Maine Soccer Association Announces 23U Competition Format for 2025 Season (January 14)

The Maine Soccer Association has announced that it is planning for a 4-team, 4-game schedule for its 23U Men’s and 23U Women’s programming this summer.

“This is the third year of our Maine-based 23U programming, and we’re continuing to grow our programming on a gradual basis,” said MSA president John Morgan. “The eventual goal is to have Maine’s first, 10-game qualifying league for the U.S. Open Cup, but we want to take our time building a strong foundation of member clubs and a deeper player pool.”

The play dates for the 2025 season are yet to be finalized, but the MSA’s plan is to have the four teams in the men’s and women’s leagues play each other once for three of the four play dates, with the fourth and final play date consisting of matchups between the top two clubs in a league final and the bottom two teams in a league consolation game.

“We’re excited to continue to provide more meaningful playing opportunities for Maine’s collegiate players, while also helping Maine’s youth clubs develop as multigenerational clubs with an extended developmental pathway for their players and other club stakeholders,” explained Morgan.
